In as much as Kenya is the largest and the most developed in the Eastern and central Africa, approximately 37% of its population lives below the poverty line which is majorly caused by government corruption, economic inequality and health problems that has led to high rate of death. And yes, the higher the poverty, the worse the situations..

KUPA-KENYA has a place for all Kenyans without any criticism or discrimination. One can cover his or her life and that of the family members with as low as ksh. 100 per month. To ensure this, the association has different membership categories with different benefits. When a member joins, he or she is allowed to choose a category of their choice and comfort.

Below are the membership categories:

CLASS A CATEGORIES

  • Bronze membership (individual cover) – this is a category that allows individual covers. For one to qualify for this, he or she must be below 69 years. The contribution for the category is ksh. 100 monthly.
  • Silver membership (couples cover) – couples are not left out either. The cover is for couples, husband and wife at a monthly contribution of ksh. 150 per month.
  • Gold membership (family cover) – at times walking alone is not a solution. Family it is….find a cover for the whole family at a cost of ksh. 200 per month. Family here means, father and mother below 69 years and any child between 1 to 17 years of age.
  • Alpha membership (extended family cover) – this is a greater version of gold membership. This now includes paternal or biological parents of the principal member below 69 years of age. It’s contribution is ksh. 250 per month.

CLASS B CATEGORIES

  • Alpha plus – covers extended family and in laws below 69 years with a monthly payment of ksh. 350.
  • Mega continuum – caters for father and mother who are between 70 to 79 years and children at a cost of ksh. 400 per month.
  • Mega select – Caters for father and mother of 80 to 89 years and children at a cost of ksh. 500.
  • Mega diamond – caters for father and mother between 90 to 100 years and children at a cost of ksh. 700 per month.

NOTE:

  1. KUPA does not give out any cash. Benefits are offered in terms of services.
  2. For the extended family, the association only accept parents 69years of age and below.
  3. For a member to qualify for class B category, he or she must have introduced at least three new members within one week.
